September 26, 2015

Blanchard Walker’s Jerry Edwards has been named as a 40 under 40 award recipient by the Young Professionals Initiative (YPI), a network of community leaders and professionals under the age of 40. The award will be presented at the 9th Annual Northwest Louisiana Young Professionals Dinner and Gala presented by The Forum on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the Shreveport Convention Center.

The 40 under 40 program is designed to bring greater awareness to 40 outstanding young professionals working in Northwest Louisiana. Each year, forty professionals under the age of forty are selected by a special committee of the Young Professional Initiative to be honored with the 40 under 40 awards.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the Shreveport-Bossier community and business leaders,” said Edwards. “I think that the YPI gives an excellent opportunity to grow Shreveport-Bossier by connecting the next generation of leaders.”

Edwards is a Director of Blanchard, Walker, O’Quin and Roberts. He practices bankruptcy, municipal law and litigation including a variety of areas with an emphasis in land use, premises liability and personal injury. He received his Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Georgia State University in 2002 and his Juris Doctorate from Vermont Law School in 2005, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and President of the Student Bar Association. Edwards was admitted to practice law in 2005 and joined Blanchard Walker in 2006.

Edwards is currently a member of the Judiciary Commission of Louisiana, the District Eight Representative to the Louisiana State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Council, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, the Shreveport-Bossier Black Lawyers Association and a Barrister in the Harry V. Booth-Judge Henry A. Politz Inn of Court. He is also a member of the Shreveport, Louisiana, American and Federal Bar Associations. Edwards was recently selected for inclusion in Louisiana’s Super Lawyer’s Rising Stars (2012, 2013 and 2014).

“This is a wonderful recognition of Jerry’s work and commitment to the community. The firm has benefitted tremendously from his dedication to clients and improving relations within Shreveport-Bossier. These qualities have been central to his leadership efforts within the firm. Jerry is incredibly deserving of this prestigious honor,” said W. Michael Adams, Blanchard Walker President.
