Taunton Melville joined Blanchard Walker in 2019, bringing with him broad civil law experience. Since 2010, he has litigated various types of suits, including premise liability, successions, oil and gas, personal injury, property ownership, tax adjudication, lien enforcement, timber, workers’ compensation, employment, bankruptcy, insurance coverage, interdiction, and family law. His transactional experience includes estate planning, successions, corporate governance, and drafting of deeds, leases, and other ownership-related matters.

Mr. Melville has appeared at Offices of Workers’ Compensation (OWC), juvenile court, city courts, state district courts, and the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal. He has filed pleadings at OWCs, juvenile, city, state, appellate, state supreme, and federal courts, including a writ of certiorari with the United States Supreme Court. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Western, Middle, and Eastern Districts of Louisiana, as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Shreveport Bar Association.

He is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. Mr. Melville is married to Christy Canady Melville. In his spare time, he enjoys writing and listening to music, and reading books on history.

Mr. Adkins’ practice at Blanchard Walker focuses on energy and commercial litigation. His litigation practice includes a broad array of commercial and business disputes, as well as cases involving oilfield contamination; mineral landowner and lessee disputes; mineral regulatory issues; and, other aspects of oilfield litigation. 

He earned his undergraduate degree at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana (summa cum laude; Phi Kappa Phi) and his law degree at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he was a member of the Louisiana Law Review.
